Seagrass restoration
Seagrass meadows hold the sea floor together and shelter young fish. Where anchors and trawls have torn them out, our teams replant them by hand, shoot by shoot.
640 hectares replanted so far.
Blue Meridian Ocean Trust replants seagrass, lifts lost nets out of the water and agrees fishing rules with the people who fish — across the Mediterranean, from Marseille.
A registered marine conservation charity, founded in 2011.
We measure in hectares, tonnes and euros, and we report the figures as they stand. These are ours.

Each one repairs a different kind of damage. Together they give a stretch of coast a real chance to recover — and to stay recovered.

Lost and abandoned nets keep fishing long after anyone hauls them in, catching fish, turtles and seabirds. We locate them, cut them free and bring them ashore.
212 tonnes removed to date.
Recovery lasts when the people who fish a coast decide together how to share it. We sit down with fishing communities and help them write agreements on where, when and how to fish, so restored meadows and stocks can hold.
Our office is in Marseille. Our boats, divers and partners work across the whole Mediterranean, where fourteen projects are active today.
The impact map marks eleven project sites. Open any marker to see what we do there and what has changed.
Choose an amount and see what it pays for before you commit. Our own costing: 25 EUR replants 12 square metres of seagrass.
Ninety-one cents of every euro reach the field. The rest keeps a registered charity running properly: accounts, governance and the work of raising the next euro.
