Where the work is, and what it has changed

Fourteen projects are active across the Mediterranean today. Here is where the work is planned from, and the figures it has added up to so far.

Eleven project sites across the Mediterranean

One sea, worked from one office. Every marker on this map is a link: open it to read a short card on what is being repaired there.

Marseille — where the work is planned

Blue Meridian Ocean Trust, a registered charity founded in 2011, is based in Marseille. From here the team plans the three programmes — seagrass restoration, ghost-net removal and community fishing agreements — keeps the accounts and answers supporters.

The totals so far

Four figures, stated as they stand: hectares planted, tonnes landed, projects running, cents per euro.

  • 640ha

of seagrass replanted on Mediterranean sea floor that had lost its meadows.

  • 212t

of ghost nets cut free and brought ashore.

  • 14

projects active across the Mediterranean right now.

  • 91%

of every euro given goes to the field.

Year by year

Figures as published by the Trust. The ledger carries the running totals since 2011; each year gets its own row as its figures are released.

Add your square metres

25 EUR replants 12 square metres of seagrass. Choose an amount and see what it does before you commit.

Material still to come from the Trust

The impact map is built for eleven project markers, each opening its own card, and the ledger is built for one row per year. The brief did not include the locations and descriptions of the eleven sites, nor yearly figures, so the map shows only the Marseille base and the ledger shows the cumulative totals. Placing markers or filling rows without the Trust's own data would mean inventing results.

Once the Trust supplies the site names, positions and a two-line description for each, and its published figures per year, each site becomes one more marker and card, and each year one more row.
